Covid-19 Vaccination

Gympie Road Medical Centre is a COVID-19 Vaccine Provider centre. 

We understand that you might have some questions and concerns regarding your immunisation. Please book a standard appointment with one of our GPs to go through your questions and concerns.

Who is eligible for Booster:

COVID-19 vaccine booster program has started for people in Australia aged 18 and over who have completed their primary two-dose course of  vaccination at least six months ago.

 

  • Pfizer is recommended as a single booster dose, no matter which vaccine was administered as the primary course .

  • The booster dose can be administered from six months after completing the primary course.

  • A booster dose is not currently recommended for people under 18 years of age.

  • The booster dose can be co-administered with the influenza vaccine.

  • Severely immunocompromised patients who receive a third dose as part of their primary course are not currently recommended to have a fourth dose.

Booster doses are not yet recommended for:

  • Severely immunocompromised individuals who have recently been recommended to

receive a third dose” of a primary COVID-19 vaccine. Further information on booster doses

for this group will be provided soon;

 

  • Those under the age of 18 years.

  •  

  • Those who received a second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine less than 6 months ago.

Who is eligible for the third dose

  • 3rd primary dose of COVID-19 vaccine is recommended in severely immunocompromised people and  is intended to maximise the level of immune response to as close as

  • possible to the general population.

  • ATAGI recommends that all individuals aged ≥12 years with certain conditions or on therapies leading to severe immunocompromise, receive a 3rd primary dose of a

  • COVID-19 vaccine.

  • Pfizer or Moderna are preferred to AstraZeneca for this 3rd dose.

  • The recommended interval for the 3rd dose is 2 to 6 months after the 2nd dose of vaccine.

  • . People who have received a 2nd dose more than 6 months ago should receive a 3rd dose

  • as soon as feasible.

  • If you think that you are eligible for the 3rd dose , please book a telehealth appointment and discuss it with your GP. You are required to present a letter from your GP to confirm that you are eligible for the 3rd dose when you are attending our covid clinics.
